Sheila Bender, author, poet, essayist, and writing coach, has created two sets of  creative writing prompts--the perfect writer resource-- that help writers improve their craft.

Writers Notebook: Openings: These creative writing prompts will help writers employ the sounds and strategies of published writers to tap into personal experiences with enhanced rhythm, imagery, and immediacy.  This writer resource will benefit writers by creating solid beginnings, which lead to finishing rewarding essays, poems, characters’ stories, memoirs, and articles.

Writers Notebook: Observations: These creative writing prompts assist writers in creatively employing each of the five senses in surprising ways to fully evoke experiences, environments, viewpoints, and personas. Writing that involves the senses opens new avenues for authors and helps them overcome blocks, take new directions, and find insights. Using these writing prompts, a writer's notebook will become filled with vivid, engaging prose--the perfect writer resource.

Alice Massanari, MSW, LSCW, psychotherapist and coach from Asheville, North Carolina, a long-time journal writer who incorporates journal writing into her practice, has created these sets of writing prompts--offering creative writing ideas.

Success: This set of writing prompts helps you sort out what it means to you to be successful. Helps you take the next step forward, consider how to move past barriers, and support and encourage you on the road to achieving success.

Life Memories: These questions trigger feelings, thoughts, and events of your earlier years. These unique writing prompts go beyond the ordinary “name-your-favorite-toy” questions. Here is an example: “Remember your grandmother’s hands.” Many creative writing ideas about your past.

Emotional Self-care: Who couldn’t use some encouragement and some focused time thinking about how to best take care of oneself? These writing prompts let you enjoy mini-vacations from a hurried and hectic life.

Loss and Grieving: Who among us has not experienced some loss - a death of a family member or a close friend, the end of a relationship, a change in jobs or careers, or a child leaving home. These thoughtful writing prompts help you get through your loss more consciously.

LifeJournal Writing Prompts

Writing prompts are sets of questions about different topics that will spark your thinking and jump-start quality journal writing. As part of our quest to create the perfect journal writing software, we asked specialists in different fields to create writing prompts. This is the perfect writer resource.

Sample Creative Writing Prompt for Writers Notebook:

The film Lawrence of Arabia begins, "He was the most extraordinary  man I ever knew." As a writer, I was inspired to start a piece of writing with a big assertion. What would happen, I wondered, if I came to my writers' journal and wrote such an assertion about someone (or a character I'd created)? What if I made my statement outrageous or seemingly exagerrated by being extremely negative or superlative?

Sample Writing Prompt for Success:

By your standards, in what areas of your life are you presently most successful? What does success feel like?

Give as many examples of  successes in your life as possible--from the large triumphs to the minor victories.   Cast the net wide in remembering your successes.
