LifeJournal™ Newsletter – February 2007

LifeJournal Newsletter – February, 2007
This month is the sixth anniversary of LifeJournal newsletters. There is so much information that we have gathered and written about for the general journal writer and LifeJournal writers during the past six years, that I thought it was worth creating a library of journaling resources.   So we have catalogued 43 articles written in the LifeJournal newsletters and indexed them . This is a work in progress and I’m sure that we’ll be adding more articles that have been in previous newsletters. When re-reading these articles I saw some recurring themes and it reminded me of the cyclic nature of journaling. Additionally, when I speak to customers by phone, I often hear (sometimes with some amount of guilt) that they haven’t been writing for a while and are just starting up again. So I wrote a short piece about the cycles of journal writing. Also included is a brief article about adding dictionaries—for those who are interested in having more than just a US English dictionary—or perhaps replacing the US English dictionary with another. We’re also pleased to report that we have a Vista compatible version of LifeJournal 2 available.  If you have Vista , go to for more information.

Cycles of Writing
The older I get the more tuned into the cycles that are an integral part of how the world operates: seasonal cycles, financial cycles, and relationship cycles. We all have our own personal cycles as well: some days I’m able to get a lot accomplished–feeling expansive and competent, and other days I feel like I’m spinning my wheels, gaining no traction, and feeling frustrated.
I think there are journal writing cycles as well.  There are times in my life that I enjoy introspection—that I look forward to the opportunity to express what I’m feeling in writing and to examine and discuss with myself events or thoughts of the day. And then other times several weeks may go by and I’m not drawn to the process of reflection and writing and recording.
 End Quote

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.

And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium, and be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.

You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate YOU. Keep the channel open…no artist is pleased…there is no satisfaction at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction; a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive.”
